Lean back and enjoy all the beauty Alkmaar has to offer from the canal boat. Alkmaar is famous for its low bridges; So mind your head! Between April and October, a boat departs from the Mient every hour.

Boating around the Alkmaar area

Boating in the Eilandspolder is a real "back in time" experience. Take a whisper boat through the UNESCO World Heritage Site, passing picturesque villages and expansive landscapes.

Cruise through the island polder
As of 2001, you can join a cruise through the Eilandspolder. On the way, skipper Piet van Marle (a former Geography teacher) will tell you about the origins and history of the peat meadow area, allotments, management, plant growth, birds and the history of the surrounding villages.
